Something Different

I decided to post a little about myself today, so I guess I will start from the beginning.  For the first almost eight years, I lived in Calumet City Illinois.  My father was a salesman for Kraft foods and my mom stayed at home with her eight children of which I am number seven.  The picture of the girl with the panda is actually me but it's only part of it.  Here is the picture in it's original form.
My mother couldn't remember why she put tights on my lil' brother.  I remember that she did it to keep sand out of his diaper & plastic pants! LOL  They say every picture tells a story.....This one is a testament to a mother's ingenuity.

Something new

Happy almost Valentines Day!  Here are some pictures of a pincushion I made.  The body is made of old flour sack and fits over it's weighted bottle base.

The heart around it's neck is an emery.

A tiny heart shaped thread waxer hangs from the side of the apron.

In the kitchen

Sorry I haven't posted anything for a while, I've been busy working in the kitchen.  Besides the usual cooking and cleaning...LOL
When we tore out the old 1980's kitchen I knew that I didn't want the traditional cabinets and counter tops and had already purchased the soon to be painted black, cupboard.  There is a small area between the stove and the sink where I had a bucket bench but after living with it there for several years, I kept wishing for a bit of counter space!  I finally convinced Mr. M to make a cabinet for the spot.  Here is a picture of it although the paint is a bit darker than it appears in the photo.
